Food Glorious Food
Booze Beautiful Booze

There is nothing like stuffing you face around this time of year. Our kitchen has been cooking up some festive themed goodies, like the Christmas Club Sandwich. A triple decker mountain of home roasted turkey breast, cranberry sauce, sage n onion stuffing, sausage, bacon and mayo! Oh my, I’ve salivated all over my keyboard. Sorry.
To wash all this down we are offering the best mulled wine in the northern quarter, it makes our bar smell so nice (not that it smelt horrible before). William and Leo have also expertly put together a Christmas beer hamper, which comes with tasting notes to accompany your favourite merrytime foods. It will be available to purchase from this Thursday onwards. This will also give you a taster of what to expect from our new offspring, Port Street Beer House (see next weeks mailer for more info)
Common Knowledge
Christmas Quiz

There is a holiday celebration around the corner which can only mean one thing, a Common Knowledge special. Its Quizmas! On Wednesday 15th December at 7pm (sharp) it’s time to gather your team, don your finest Christmas jumper, grab a mulled wine (much better and cheaper than the markets) and see what Santa has left for you under our tree.
Mister John Ruane and Master Chris Higson will be on hand as ever to encourage the festive mood and puzzling your brain with many a yule tide teaser and christmassy conundrum, but always beware for that elusive final round!! Also to add to that, the extremely talented Common kitchen staff will be serving up festive goodies fresh from the stove till 8.30pm.
All this wonderful merriment equates to exactly how Christmas parties should be.
Advent Calendar
For the Future

We are midway through December and edging nearer to Christmas and the festivities it entails, and to contain our excitement for the rest of the month we can rely on advent calendars! This year LOVE have teamed up with Scanzine to create a special interactive advent that’s based on QR codes.
It may not look especially festive and may lack the nativity scenes, the impenetrable foil and the cheap chocolate but behind the barcodes lie prizes, exclusive promotions and other Christmas related goodness. They’ve been fly posted around Manchester, so if you spot one, make sure to scan the relevant code with your smartphone and the scanzine app and check out what’s behind the door for your daily treat. There’s an online version as well, which involves good old fashioned clicking instead of scanning.
So why are we mentioning this crazy invention in our newsletter I hear you ask. Well, we at Common Bar have donated a little festive treat for one lucky person to win and it shall be appearing very soon so keep an eye on the calendar so as not to miss out. Little tip though – you should start working on your new years resolutions.
