Beer from here
Beer from there

It’s time again for another Common expedition. Last year we followed the route of the Trans-Pennine Express and visited many amazing breweries that lie near the tracks. One of our favourites was Hawkshead brewery in the lakes, with their fantastic Windermere Pale. A light, refreshing, hopped ale.
We are now setting off into the unknown with visits to breweries that our wonderful employees were born close too. We have already had two breweries grace our guest pump, Purple Moose from the valleys for the Welsh alliance and now Gelstdale for our north lakes leader. This will continue
throughout the coming month and beyond.
On a serious note, this is a showcase of great talent from craft beer makers throughout the UK. It really is a treasure trove of fantastic hand-made ale on everyone’s door step and should be greatly revered by one and all. Celebrate by drinking a pint of something local to you.
Christopher Eatough – A Creak in the Cold
Exclusive album playback at Common

Not content with making the ace fanzine you see all over the country, putting on gigs, and of course DJing at Common every other Wednesday, Pull Yourself Together have started a record label. Following on from the labels well received debut release, Patterns’ New Noise EP, PYT are releasing the debut album from Manchester’s whisky soaked answer to Ryan Adams, Christopher Eatough.
The album, A Creak in the Cold, is released on Monday 14th February, but we’ll be giving you an exclusive chance to hear it a week early with this album playback before Dan and Hannah take to the decks themselves for PYT on Wednesday 9th Feb. Come down to get a sneak preview of what is already being heralded as “a vindication of how in 2011, there is still no substitute for wonderfully constructed songs with vision, scope and a huge chunk ripped out of your left ventricle”.

Exhibition launch
Over Them Hills

An exhibition about a mythical and magical place called Yorkshire, where Dragons nest, monsters roar and giants roam. Featuring some of Leeds finest illustrators, designers and wizards.
Matt Saunders (your host), is an illustrator and animator based in Leeds, he is represented by Handsome Frank illustration agency. He enjoys creating magical worlds for t-shirts, editorial work and anything that will allow a pen to make a mark on it. Matt was always that boy who would draw in his school books and the boy who’s pen exploded in his pocket.
He has worked for Juxtapoz Magazine, Upper Playgrounds, Channel Four, Anorak Magazine, Atlantic Records, Picasso Pictures and various others. Matt was recently included in Digital Artists top 10 tipped for greatness in 2011, being the year of the rabbit, he hopes this is true – also features special guests Fon/The Pern, Amy Lord & Rebekah Whitney and Kristyna Baczynski.
Over Them Hills launches on Thursday 10th Feb / 6pm – 8pm
Free drinks and limited edition signed postcard to the first 100 people through the door / first come first served.
Freitags Present
Dutch Uncles

Established in 2009 Dutch Uncles quickly established themselves at the forefront of new Manchester music. A recording spell in Germany courtesy of Tapete records bore a relatively low-key, import debut album which has slowly seen them become cult heroes of music fans and the press alike.
Now signed to the legendary Memphis Industries (home of The Go Team and Field Music to name just a few), it’s time for Dutch Uncles to hit the mainstream with their eagerly awaited new album, due out in late April. Retaining all the energy of the first album, the new record achieves alternative pop perfection with meticulous and lavish production. But don’t take our word for it, literally hear it here first at Freitags.
