The power of social media can be quite an influential tool in the world of marketing. Shame we ignore most peoples ideas and suggestions, only joking! We really do like to take on board all comments made about Common and we take them very seriously.
The world of twitter has made this even easier before it was a rolled up piece of parchment strapped to a voles back which we hopefully received a couple of weeks later, only to be then lost in the badgers filing system!
One such suggestion came through twitter last week, asking us to start doing milkshakes. We opened this up to the public vote and it failed miserably (again only joking!) We have listened to our ever faithful customer base and we are starting to make Vimto milkshakes from today onwards. Please feel free to see this as an enormous cop out, but its the best we could do with limited space. We hope you like our taste.

Monday 4th July
We’re on Holiday
Independence Day in 2011 is now known as ‘Common is on Holiday Day’, does that work? Catchy enough? In all seriousness, Common will be shut on Monday 4th July – ALL DAY.
We are packing up some lunches and all the staff are having a day trip to a secret location. We will have a team bonding session, in which we build a raft and try to navigate down the Mersey. The winning team will receive a months pay and a free bottle of that expensive ale they sell at Port Street Beer House.
So yes indeed our very kind bosses have given us a day off, we hope you don’t miss us too much. We all need a break. We re-open as normal on Tuesday 5th July at 11am. Thank you.
Freitags
Manchester International Festival
On Wednesday 6th July our very own Freitags will be representing at the Manchester International Festival.
Taking place in the wonderful Festival Pavilion on Albert Square, the night starts at 9.30pm and is free entry (subject to capacity). Freitags will be by hosting a DJ set from Craig Campbell, expect a set of musical wonderment, flying the flag for the best night in Manchester.
Fully endorsed by us, the people of Common, it will be a guaranteed fun night, so head down with your friends and sit in a giant tee-pee, drink some cocktails and support Freitags in the best way you can – tell them Common sent you.
Port Street Beer House
American Beer Festival
Next Monday 27th June sees the launch of PSBH’s American Beer Festival. The opening night on the Monday has sold out, but fear not the festival runs until the selected beer has run out.
They promise to have lovely beverages from the likes of Anchor, Brooklyn, Caldera, Coronado, Dogfish, Flying Dog, Goose Island, Great Divide, Indigo Imp, Kona, Left Hand, Maui, Odell, Rouge, Saranac, Sierra Nevada, Sudwerk, Uinta & Victory
Port Street are also hosting their first ever BBQ on Sunday 3rd July as part of the festivities. If anyone witnessed the Common BBQ we had at the NQ Street Party, then you know what to expect, mega sausages, tasty burgers and some lovely american treats. YES.
Come celebrate Uncle Sam’s finest, the most creative brewing scene in the world!
